Integrative TherapiesAn integrative approach means one that combines elements from different schools of thinking in order to suit the needs of the individual. The therapist tends to have an orientation towards a particular theory but, in clinical practice, can flexibly combine elements from other schools to create what can essentially be a tailored package for the client. This is based on the idea that no single therapeutic approach can deal effectively with all aspects of psychological distress. Integrative therapies can be relatively short term depending on the needs of the client. Copyright ©2003 St Giles Clinic. All rights reserved.
